I constantly get asked for recommendations on remote work essentials, so I decided to post these lists of the best remote work items. They contain items for working from home or for the digital nomad lifestyle with a focus on comfort and practicality.
Keep in mind that people travel and work differently and might have different needs. This article is just a guideline of essential items for people who are working from home or working while travelling based on my own experience.
This article is by no means exhaustive, so I’ll be adding more categories and suggestions (like clothing and beauty items) very soon. Keep an eye!
Here are the essential items for remote workers I recommend.
Essentials for Digital Nomads
ASUS ZenScreen MB16AMT 15.6″ Portable Monitor
Lightweight and easy to carry with you. If you prefer to work with two monitors, this is a great option to take with you around the world.
Insta360 ONE RS Twin Edition
An action camera that comes with amazing editing capability using AI. This version allows you to interchange between a 360ΒΊ and a 4K lens. It’s super lightweight, waterproof, and IMO does the job better than the GoPro max.
iPhone 13 Pro
Probably the best smartphone camera on the market. 256GB or more of storage allows you to film videos on 4K. My inseparable travel companion.
Wireless and Wired Headphones
I’ve had a great experience with this brand of headphones and their customer service. They are affordable and have good sound quality. Get the wireless option for comfort and the wired headphones for when the others run out of battery (like during long-haul flights).
All-in-One Universal Travel Adapter
A pocket-size universal adapter is essential for your trips. This one works with every possible plug there is and comes with 3 USB ports and 1 Type-C port. It also has safety certifications, so you can safely use it with all your devices.
INIU Power Bank 20,000 mAh
Powerful portable charger to make sure your phone battery doesn’t die while you are in the middle of the desert or hiking. This one is also airline-approved, and I’ve never had trouble with it during airport checks.
Work From Home Essentials
Cubii Under Desk Elliptical or Bike Pedal
Working from home does not necessarily mean being sedentary. A mini elliptical like this one will help you exercise while sitting at your desk. I like this one especially because it’s compact, ergonomic, and has 8 different resistance levels.
Cross Legged Chair with Lumbar Support
Sit as you like! This “meditation chair” allows you to sit in many different ways to get comfortable through those long hours in front of the screen.
Adjustable Laptop Stand
I used to look around my desk for any box or similar to lift my laptop for video calls. Until I bought this gamechanger. I like that it’s very sturdy, you can adjust the height, and it allows you to type comfortably.
Anker Triple Display Docking Station for M1 MacBooks
This docking station expands your M1 MacBook’s display capabilities, supporting up to 3 displays. Comes with multiple ports for peripherals. Lightweight and portable.
Padded Desk Chair with Tilting Motion
My favourite thing about this chair is that it encourages good posture. It is ergonomic and very adjustable. The non-slip, curved base allows a slight rocking motion.
